Blogging from the iPad, so no fancy stuff!

I went to a thrift shop recently and found the most beautiful shirt....  A kind of tunic, in the Indian style (not Native American). And it is extremely flattering for my body type!   I got more than a few compliments in one day of wearing this!   I loved it so much that I went online and looked at amazon and eBay and a bunch of other stores.   Then I found that there is a little part of our Mira Mesa neighborhood that is very Indian!!  I knew of one store, but never looked any further... I wish I had!   I found Bombay fashions....  Oh my, the most beautiful clothing ever!  Not that I would have any place to wear a sari or a full "I dream of Jeanie" outfit, but the shirts were incredible!  Hard to find a fit, as the sizes were all European.  But I found a gorgeous one, all slightly silky and shimmery and lovely wide sleeves.  It set me back $28 (the thrift shop one was $4) but well worth it!  I got so many compliments!  Well, my youngest said he was worried that I was wearing too many Indian clothes...???     Maybe he is worried I will wear full Indian regalia and walk him to class?  I dunno!  However, I am tempted to buy one every few months just to have... I adore them!    Also, I went into the Indian grocery next door and had sooooo much fun browsing through the sauces and incense and goodies!  And you know what?? I found a cream that said it helps with a bazillions of skin problems, and also a soap that said the same...  And the ingredients (I looked them all up) were extremely beneficial in curing skin problems and so I got a soap and a lotion.  Even the base of the soap is great, being coconut oil.  (Not lanolin or glycerin, which messes with the skin) and lo and behold, my red hives or whatever the hell they are were a bit paler in the morning after using them! I'm gonna go get some more this weekend.....I used up half the lotion on my legs and arms this morning!  So I feel good about that.... However today I was all busy scratching at the hives behind my ear....  And I noticed a little lump right where my lymph glands are.  Now, I am use to knowing what swollen glands feel like. Mine swell up when I get sick like with a bad cold sometimes....  My kids have had theirs swell a bit when they are sick.....  but this feels a little like an M&M size....  Hard and little.  I actually almost swooned, because I am usually so fucking healthy that I never have anything scary going on....  I am worried that because I had a scare, and got hives, and am anxious lately that maybe I I am attracting bad health to myself.  I am not joking....  I know that good attracts good and bad attracts bad.  If something bad happens and I wallow in it, will it bring more bad health???  Man. I need to try to pull myself out of this!

Well, hell!   How about some photos? This is some stuff from my life in the last week!
This is why I do not give the dogs toys with fluffy guts anymore! (Note:the sad dog outside that started it all..  Bad Hercules!)
Chicken tiki masala!!!  Mmmmmm.  So yummy!

Stocks!!!  They smell like cloves!  Trader joes has em cheap! I adore them.... Smell them every time I walk through the dining room.

My little little boys when they were 2 and 7!  This is a photo of the photo on the fridge.

This is a little creation thanks to my hubby...  Chocolate raspberry vodka with seltzer and fresh raspberries! I am not one for sweet drinks, but this is definitely an exception!

Yeah, you want me to get off a the couch?? I don't think so!

Yes, I am pretending to be a frog! Like my frog legs?

Adios!  Have a good weekend everyone!

I'm not gone, really!

I'm still here!

I have been a little low, lately.  Nothing horrible.  Just not my usual cheery self.

Part of it is these damn hives!  It has been like 4 weeks, go away already!  I am nervous, because if they are indeed considered "chronic" hives, they could last indefinitely.

Won't this be a fun Summer!

Maybe I will have to wear pants during the hottest months.

I had a wonderful time last weekend.  3 Days off!  I slept in until 7:00 all three days!  My oldest went to Mexico on a photo excursion on Saturday with his Dad....  the day was quite peaceful with just my little one and myself.  We ate badly and I drank beer!  I did yardwork and sat on my butt reading!

I JUST finished "A Different Blue" by Amy Harmon.   I HIGHLY recommend it!   It was only .99 cents for Kindle.

Go check it out!!

I also recently finished 2 other books by the same author.  They were FREE on Kindle, so I was wary...  sometimes freebies SUCK!  Well, the first one was "When you were older" and the second was "Second Hand Heart".

When you were older was SUPERB!!!!!!

Second Hand Heart wasn't AS good, but still REALLY good!!

I am hoping you will look these up on Amazon or somewhere....  I am not in the right mood to write reviews, but there are lots online.

Well, off to start my weekend.

BOOK CLUB TONIGHT!!!!!  And Mojitos! (never had one before)

Monkey Business

I was going to post all about how bad my week has been, how Mother's Day was a disaster (broken house AC, huge dog fight, my back went out and stayed out for days, among other things I don't feel like mentioning) buy instead, I shall try to be positive.

I shall share with you my collection of monkeys.  You will notice a theme.  These are all smart monkeys that are doing human kinds of things!  I love my monkeys, even more that I love my turtle collection (that I have gazillions of)!

I have noticed that I needed to dust these little guys, so this morning I got out my dust rag and they are all shiny and beautiful!  Did I retake the photos?  No!  That would have been too much work.  But they are all  clean now.  I just got the candle holding monkey at the goodwill yesterday. ( I also to some awesome dresses and a purse!)

I am so happy, the leader of the book club I am in  (hi Tiffany!!!) announced our next book club meeting!!  I have so much fun at them.  It is really the only time I go out without my husband.  We always have a bit (gallons) of wine and talk about the book for about 5 minutes.... Then talk about everything else for hours!  We need to do it more often-maybe if we take turns hosting it would be easier.  Unfortunately since my dogs will kill and eat anyone that comes over, my place is out.  (They wouldn't really kill and eat, just nip and nibble and make a s***load of noise!).
Our book was See Jane Run.  It was super good and I made sure to look up a bunch more of her books (Joy Fielding) and she has some great ones!  Suck you in and take you for a wild ride kind of stories!

Well, off to look for a broccoli cheese soup recipe that DOES NOT start with a"can of cheese soup"!!!  Amazing what people  call "recipes".  The only thing is.....  I ran out of milk.   I have plenty of cream, sour cream, broth etc.... And a TON of cheese.  I will figure something out!
Have a good week!

Looky my new camera!

My Mothers Day Present!

I have been desperately wanting a camera because I have been sharing mine with my son, who is the ROTC photographer.  Every time I want to take a photo, he has it!
I also wanted a teeny tiny one that I could always have in my purse.

So my husband got me this cool Canon ELPH 300HS.  it is smaller than my cellphone!
And it takes great photos.  It is cute that something so tiny actually has a little telescoping lens.

My little guy had his friend sleep over, and it was kinda sad.  Sad that our dogs are so crazy that he was too scared to leave the bedroom ever!  I don't think he even came out for the rest room, unless it was whan I was sleeping.  He is very scared of dogs.  I spent the whole last 14 hours being paranoid that one of the dogs (Jinx, the nibbler) should nibble on him! I feel like I have been holding my breath!  But his mom picked him up and I can sorta breathe again.   They had fun, though....  I was basically a waitress the whole time.....  Or a jailer, since I opened the door a crack and slipped food in!!  They ate incredibly badly. The last time he came over, we found that he is even pickier than Ryan!
He did not eat.  Anything.
So, this time I just went all out and got muffins for breakfast and soda with SUGAR (I am ashamed of myself) and pizza.  They ate way too much and Ryan's room is still waiting to be vacuumed of all the crumbs.

So, I got to breathe for a while.

Another annoying thing happened.

My cars AC has been getting warmer....  So I got a can of freon and my coworker/ex mechanic had the tool thingys to install it.
All fine and dandy at first, AC was nice and cold.
Then a few hours later,it went out agan, then came back on, back and forth.  This morning I noticed that the car was really like losing power when the air actually worked!  Like little jerky moments as if I weren't firing all the way.  I freaked, because my husband has to take the car into the DESERT tomorrow!  If the AC is going out and it is my fault for letting a person add freon instead of an (expensive) car shop, I will get majorly yelled at.  So I went to my main car shop, Firestone.  They were dumb and clueless.  Said the engine and AC weren't connected at all....  So I got a hold of my coworker and he said AC needs it power from the engine and the are definitely connected.  After lots of boring car gibberish (which is all I hear when it is confusing)I just need to stop by a Real auto repair place and have them flush the lines.
That should fixit.
I am still not breathing right.
Why do I let things bother me so much?

I let things bug me too much and keep it in.
Do you know, ever since the ER incident, I have a raging case of hives?
(Probably because of the bill)
I look like I have measles or chicken pox!
Maybe I need to go yell and scream and get it all out, because its coming out through my skin!
Hmmm.    Should I post a picture of some spots?  Naaaaa.

Okay, this post had nothing to do with books, food or Boston's!  Well, maybe a bit about terribly bad food and terribly bad Boston's.  I got a chicken at Costco!  Best deal around, 5 bucks for an enormous bird.
I am reading some free kindle book and a book about low carb cheats! I will share that later.
For now. Wine and chicken

What a nice kid!

I got a surprise last night.
My Oldest son announced that he was making dinner!
He made rotini with a Caesar Pesto sauce and smoked sausage!  He even made a salad.

I wonder why.....  did he do something bad?  I don't think so.

And look!  He washed the dishes too!

And not to leave out the little brother:
He made this awesome gun complete with a removable "Magazine", I think he called it.
He can make anything out of anything!  Cardboard, paper, foil, legos sticks, and his all time favorite is duct tape!  Once, I bought a roll of moleskin for when we go on hikes or if I have to wear high heels...  expensive stuff!  Well, it went missing...   and I later found  a home made walking stick in his room with a wonderful cushiony comfy handle made out of....  moleskin.

I love my boys!!!!!

Feeling or showing an appreciation of kindness; thankful.
Today, I am in a bit of a funk.  Not horribly, just a little melancholy.  So in order to try and snap myself out of it, I am going to list TEN things that I am grateful for.
1. I have a house to live in.
2. I have a great family.
3. My boys are smarter and more socially adjusted than I was at their ages.
4. I am fairly healthy.
5. I have the awesomest dogs in the world and they love me no matter what! (I know that awesomest is not a real word)
6. There is always plenty of food and water for us.
7. I have freedom.
8. I have a job that is not too bad.
9. I am the manager so nobody can tell me what to do!  (they try, though).
10.  My desk is by a window so I can watch the sky and trees.

I think the one I feel the most strongly about right now is Freedom.  After reading so many articles about the kidnapping victims in Cleveland, I so value every little thing that I am able to do that they couldn't!  I can go for a walk outside, I can pick what to wear and eat, I can get in a car and go anywhere, I can tell my husband I don't feel like sex (doesn't go over well, but at least he hasn't tied me up), I can call or text anyone I want, the list goes on and on......

What are you grateful for?

Rainy Days and Mondays.....

We had a nice Cinco de Mayo.
I made Mexican hamburgers!
I mixed up chorizo and ground beef and cooked em up.  Then I made my cool recipe for the "Red Lobster Rolls" for buns.  Topped with home made guacamole and roasted chilies... MMmmm mmmm!  Sadly, the addition of chorizo added so much fat to them that they shrunk like crazy!
No leftovers.
The avocados had the BIGGEST pits I have ever seen!

Then I made some chocolate chocolate chunk muffins....  my usual low carb recipe, but with added cocoa and melted dark chocolate.
Should have added more sweetener, though.  Next time!

Jinx was bad yesterday.
All of the dogs were in the house because I had to do a few things in the back yard and didn't want any fights out there.  But I suddenly noticed the stinker Jinx running around!  The butt had jumped through my screen in the bedroom!  I tried to fix it, but no go.  So I had to go buy a new roll of screen and re-screen the whole thing!
Of course, it started raining while I was fixing it.

It has been quite rainy yesterday and today!
Of course, it rained AFTER I watered the back yard.  Oh well...
I had a NICE Saturday!  We went to the beach in La Jolla
 (Wind n'Sea)
That is a cool beach!  But it's a little scary, the beach slopes much more than most beaches and the waves are crazy big and strong!  I myself would probably not venture in, and I really wouldn't want my kids in there either!
Beautiful dramatic clouds, though...  very very windy!
After, we went to Su Casa, a Mexican restaurant that has been around for almost 50 years.  We shared a big platter of tacos and enchiladas and had margaritas.  It was a nice afternoon!

Well, that was my weekend.  How was yours?

Here's the beach!
I did not take this picture, I brought no camera or purse or anything!  But this is exactly what the weather looked like Saturday!

Ups and Downs

Well, I made it through another week!
I made a few good low carb meals this week.  The BEST was a Bacon Blue Cheese Burger on a homemade bun.  The bun recipe was from a post on Low Carb Friends.  I tweaked it some because I didn't have enough pork rinds.
I used a serious amount of blue cheese crumbles and applewood smoked bacon.
Red Lobster Biscuits
8 ounces of cream cheese
4 large eggs
 1cups of pork rind flour
1 cup almond flour
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup shredded Italian cheese mix
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp parsley

preheat oven to 425 degrees
bring eggs and cream cheese to room temp. mix until well blended. add the dry ingredients, spices, and cheeses to the wet mixture
and blend, mixture will be thick. grease the muffin tines and mound the mixture in (lemon size) bake at 425 for 12-15 min. remove from oven and brush with melted butter
Enough for 12 regular sized biscuits or 4 big fat hamburger buns!

I made some Salmon the other night.  I actually bought canned green beans, usually not my favorite, but I had a tester at the store of a really good recipe!  It was smokey and very flavorful, main ingredient was Cumin.  So I made that to go with it and guess what?  I WAS OUT OF CUMIN!!!   That one little ingredient was the only reason I made them!  So, I improvised and threw some other stuff in.  Everyone liked them, but I was  bugged!
Those are toasted pecans in the beans, FYI.

So, I got my bill from my ER visit (actually my hubby got it, and I could practically hear him screaming from here at work).  It was $1450!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Apparently it costs $850 alone to step foot in the damn place!!!!
So, we had a very unpleasant evening...  my husband was very pissed, mostly because we were never informed that our health plan coverage had changed.  He just wouldn't let up!   We have to meet the deductible before things get cheap.  If I had known this, I seriously would have gone home and lay down instead!  Sheesh!!!

So, here is a funny video.  You can't really see this well because it  was so dark, but the sound is the important part!  My Hercules snoozing:

So Happy Friday!  I have an incredibly strong beer waiting for me!
Brandywine from Green Flash!

It was a nice Saturday, this weekend

After washing all 4 struggling Bostons (what a workout) and bringing  the youngest to the pool so that "his hair could get blonde faster",
I saw that my husband was restless and wanted to get out of the house.
So, we just got in the car and drove!  An hour later, we were up in Beautiful Julian!

We had some GREAT wine tasting, mmm mm mmm!

After that, we went up into down town Julian and followed the smokey smell to the local BBQ place....   we had the best smoked tri -tip sandwich!  I ate bread, call the police!

It was such a beautiful day....  there was a nice breeze and all of the green grasses were blowing in the wind.  There were very few people up there, unlike in the Autumn.  We walked around and stopped in to the little candy shop.  We got some local honey, some homemade peanut butter cups, and some Swedish Fish for the boys.

Then the BEST thing happened...  someone was selling big bunches of LILACS on the corner!  I bought a great big bunch for $5.  The car smelled so good on the way back home.  It was funny, after we bought them, we walked around the corner and saw the tree that the guy had most likely stolen them from.  Oh well, I am just happy to have them!
 Can you smell them?!

They are keeping me in a happy mood!

We stopped at Trader Joes for wine on the way home....
didn't want to pay $20 for one bottle when we could get 4 for $10!!

It was a nice day.

The End!

A scary day

I had a scare earlier this week.

I was at work, just minding my own business, sitting at the computer working.  All of a sudden I got a REALLY bad pain in my upper back and it spread to my chest and throat quickly.  It freaked me out, I was not even moving when it happened!  I sat there for a minute, hoping it would go away....  decided to look online for "sudden upper back pain causes" and the first thing that came up was Heart Attack!!  Well, as soon as I saw that, I could feel my heart start to race.  Luckily I have a blood pressure monitor in my desk so I checked it out and it was HIGH.  Higher than it has ever been before!  The pain started to go away, after a few more minutes it was all gone.  But it came back!  A few times!  My coworker came in and immediately knew something was wrong, I started crying and called this little urgent care place next door who said they couldn't help and to go to ER.  So I called my husband to come get me, he was on a walk with our oldest boy, so they ran back to the house (and my husband does NOT run).  He got here in a few minutes luckily and off we went to the ER.  On the way, the pain stopped and I started feeling stupid for getting everyone in an uproar.  We made it pretty quickly even though it was rush hour, and as soon as I checked in, I was called back.  Now I know, if you ever want fast service in the ER, just say the words chest pains and you will be first in line (unless your are bleeding to death, then you will be 2nd).  So over the course of almost 5 hours, I had many tests and x-rays and blood-letting.  And they came up with absolutely nothing!  Which is wonderful, but made me feel even dumber for panicking!

The 3 worst things about this visit were:
 A. I was so worried that my kids were worried and had to make their own dinner
B. It was incredibly boring....
C. Finding out my plan had changed and not only did I have to shell out $150, I was told I would be receiving an additional bill as well!!  Because there were so many tests.  Good thing I refused the IV and didn't have enough pee for the urine test!  That saved a few bucks.

So, no clue what it was.  Possibly a strange deep muscle spasm.

On a cheerier note, I made some really good ribs last night!  Slow braised with lots of garlic and tiny red onions.  They had been marinading allll day.  I also got to try out my new ricer!  I used it to make mashed cauliflower.  Good stuff!  I made a gravy from all of the drippings from the pork and it came out very well!

Another fun thing that happened is that my car made it to 100000 miles!!!
This may seem "meh" to some people, but it is the first car that I have owned
from Mile #1 to Mile #100000!

I just finished a freebie on my Kindle.  It turned out to be funny and interesting!  It was a little unsettling in regards to the amount of alcohol consumed by college students, though.  And that is something, coming from me!
It was called "Deep Fried and Pickled" by Paisley Ray
It turns out that it is the first in a series...  but the other will have to wait, as I have 5 or more books waiting for me at the library!

Nobody can lay on a bed without doggies jumping up!

The End

It's been a busy week!

When I first thought of writing a blog, I thought I would write every day. I did not realize that it would be so hard! First of all, I think some of the things I would share are too boring, and secondly is I didn't realize how busy I actually get!
Today I had grand plans to get my tires replaced (hubby set up the appointment and got all of the details taken care of so I only had to walk in with the car and the money), then go to yoga and not die, then run around to a few different ethnic markets for some great ingredients for this week. The car was totally not even started when I went to pick it up, delaying me enough so that I only had time to run into Von's for a few basics and pick up some lunch, since it was late enough to create a problem when I returned home. So no lovely Bul Gogi BBQ meat, no coconut milk for my pudding, no heaps of cheap veggies, now I have no plans for the whole week. Oh well, at least I have lunch ingredients for the boys! (Wow, when I typed the word "ingredients", spell check turned it into Nigerians! Wow)! I guess. am sending my boys to school with Nigerians!

Anyway, somewhat of a change of plans. Then, I get home and see that the lawn needs to be cut, and it is drying out..... Here we go. The start of the incredible high water bill to keep at least the front lawn green! This is what stresses me out from April to November every year.... We do not have real grass, we have weeds that LOOK like real grass when we (I)keep it cut and when it gets dry, it just will not stay green no matter how much water I dump on to it! I like March, it is a nice green month! If we were home owners, you bet I would try to sink in a few bucks to get some real grass!! But, that's life. I am happy to have a yard at all.

So, enough whining! Cooking... I have not done a whole lot of that! Sadly! I mean, I cook, I keep us alive, but nothing exciting or interesting! Some chicken in a Provençal sauce, some bacon... (Always!). And not a whole heck of a lot else! What a time to suck at cooking, right when I want to have stuff to talk about!
Books.... Oh, I am reading such a fun series right now!! It is called "the Girl in the Box" series and I am having fun with it! I am on the last one, as far as I know. The main character is just great! She makes me want to go kick the ass of anyone that has ever messed with me!!

Boston's..... Well, they are awesome, except we have had a few altercations this week. Twice. I went to go out the back door, and I usually try to only let myself out, as phoebe likes to pick fights if she is out the at the same time as me. I guess it is a protective thing. But this time, she literally shoved me aside (she is a hefty girl) and made a beeline for poor hector the basset and just tore into him! Unfortunately, 2 other Boston's were out there as well and of course, they jumped on him for fun. I had to turn the hose on them and scream for the boys to come help! We got then untangled and gave hector lots of treats to say sorry. That afternoon, hubby tried to let one dog out and there went evil phoebe, just smashed her way through and jumped poor hector again! We got them separated pretty quickly, but jeez!! What a pain!! I can't even really go into the backyard anymore unless I go out front and go all the way around through the side yard, because the sliding glass door is too heavy and slow to get me through before "radar ears phoebe" hears and races over. This is gonna make it hard to garden this, a bit.

We have too many dogs. Anyone want one???

Week-end? No, Work-end.

Even though it is Saturday, I had to work today.  The old main work computer was out to rest and a new young computer was brought in.  However, it was a big pain in the butt.....  It didn't play nice with the other computers and took hours of  trial and error to get it right....  Most of the way.  The two other computers do not want to talk to the printer... Kinda important!  Oh we'll, I will go in extra early Monday and do some more trouble shooting.  I don't like misbehaving computers!  I sway between kicking them or crying!

This afternoon I brought Jinx in to get his shots at Petco.  He was a really good boy and didn't attack anyone's ankles!   He smelled several doggie butts too.  I bought him a nice big bag of doggie cookies.  I love that they have bulk grain free treats there!

So now I am home sitting down finally, with a little vodka and seltzer.  I am going to read my kindle book....I started a series by Robert J Crane....  "The girl in the Box" series.   I initially read the first one because it was free on kindle.  I was hooked!  I bought the second 2 and I think there are 1 or 2 more.  It is sci fi....  All about "meta-humans".  Humans with super powers, basically.  This is not the normal type of book that I read, but I really got into it and I like the characters a lot!

Here is some amazing garlic teriyaki chicken! It was yummy!

I'm back....

It has been more than a few days since I was here.

I am feeling much better now!

Now my husband is sick....  I would rather be sick than have him be sick.
It would be easier!   I am not a fan of waiting on someone.  Especially a cranky someone!  BUT, so far, he is in an okay mood, so I will not complain (yet).

It is beautiful drop dead gorgeous weather today!  Not a cloud in the sky and about 75 degrees...  light breeze.   Outside, there is a little high pitched almost squeaky bird calling.  I looked up in the tree, expecting a little finch or something...  it was a HAWK!  What a wussy little voice it has!  However, it sure scared the crap out of the ravens!

Well, the hawk WAS in this tree!
He just flew away.  At least you can see how beautiful the weather is!   I looked the hawk up and see he is a Red Shouldered Hawk.
 I'll shall call him squeakers.

This is Hercules when he was about 2 months old.  He is now a hefty 32 POUNDS!
He is a giant!  I keep thinking he HAS to be mixed with a boxer or some kind of long legged creature, because he just keeps growing and isn't even Boston Terrier shaped anymore.  He is a big ol' gentle giant, when he isn't beating up on his Dad.
( He has been a good boy lately. )

I finally ran out of library books, working on some Kindle books for a few days.  I read 3 books in the last 2 days.   Brownie Points (funny), Chattanooga (not bad, a southern 1940's book) and The Hay Fort (possibly the most stupid awful book I have ever read!).  Now I'm reading one called "Alone"...  seems to be a combo of the movie "Hannah" and a super hero girl.  Interesting, but not very well written.  I am not even bothering to name authors on these because they aren't being recommended by me!  I am just filling time waiting for more library books to get here!

The book I CAN'T wait to read is the one my MOM is writing!!!!!
YES, my MOM is writing a book!!
I am only getting one chapter at a time, and it is SUPER good!!!
Mom, write faster!!!!

Food food food.  I have not made too awfully much lately.  But 2 things that I DID make for the first time are Almond Pancakes and Chia Pudding.
 Yes, Chia!!
Look up Chia if you want to learn about a superfood that has been around for hundreds of years, but never brought to the attention of modern people until recently.
It improves cholesterol and heart health, it boosts energy levels, improves diabetes symptoms, helps with weight loss (makes you FULL) and reduces inflammation.  I know there is even more, but those are the big ones.

The pudding I made was simple:
3/4 cup coconut milk
2 TBSP Chia Seeds
1 TBSP Raw Apple Cider Vinegar
Few drops liquid Stevia
couple shakes of cinnamon
Mix it all up in a bowl and leave in fridge until set (hour or so)
It comes out SO creamy and the seeds swell up, like a tapioca pudding.  The cider vinegar gives it a tangy yogurt-like taste and has lots of health benefits too.

I did NOT take a photo, I ate it too fast.
I DID take a photo of my almond pancakes, though!

2 cups almond flour
2 large eggs
1 cup of Almond Milk (or water or milk)
1 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
1 tsp of butter to grease the pan
Mix well, let sit 5 minutes.
Pour into med size pancakes (3-4 inches) and cook about 3 or 4 minutes on each side.
Top with your favorite syrup.
Mine came out a little flat, so next time I will beat the eggs more and add a tad more baking powder.

Well, that's all for now.  Hopefully something really exciting happens soon!
.... and hopefully I take a picture of it!

Homage to My Favorite Store!

Today is all about my Favorite Store in the entire world:
Trader Joes!

(I dedicate this to my mom, Susan.
She will be very jealous to read this because there are no Trader Joes near her).
Although they are inexpensive, I seem to come out with a completely empty wallet every time!  But with such super bargains!

These are my Top 10 favorites:

I just finished eating a tin of these....  luckily I have a toothbrush handy because they are FISHY!  But just like it says, light smokey flavor and lots of Omega 3's!

I just love the 2 Buck Chuck.... even though it is now 2 buck plus 49 cent Chuck.  Still a great deal for some very tasty wine!

This is what we drink tons of!  Luckily I have been able to wean the family from soda - down to sugar free soda - down to Seltzer!

The kids love their chocolate, so I try to have these around.  I also use them to break up and make chocolate chunk cookies or muffins.  They melt very well too.

Best place for NUTS!!!  Most are salted with Sea Salt, which is the best kind of salt!

This is great!  I get a few just for emergency "I forgot my lunch" meals at work.  They are fun, you get to unwrap them!  And I am a huge fan of pesto.  Only a few carbs, too!!

These are Dangerous!!  I ate a whole bag without meaning too....
I am very addicted to salty-sweet combinations!

This may look gross to some, but believe me, it was really good!  Very unique flavor, tangy and sweet.  Unfortunately, I have only seen it around Christmas time.

This is always a Great deal!  Inexpensive and not as harsh as some vodkas are.

Okay... last one!

This is a staple in my kitchen.  Coconut oil has SO many HUGE health benefits!!  I use it every day, to eat and on my face.  It is antibacterial and a great moisturizer, so I don't break out from it.  It reduced puffiness around the eyes, too!

Well, that is all I can think of.... I am sure I am forgetting many things, but these are the top 10!

For some reason, I am in the mood to go shopping now!
