It's HOT!

Boy, it sure is summer!!  We got close to 100 here the last few days.  Some people nearby say their thermometers registered even higher.  I managed to not turn on the AC yesterday though....  Just took cold shower and had cold beer!

I have been off the radar lately.....  I finally broke down and went to the dermatologist.  I have Psorasias Guttate.  It most likely stemmed from having strep throat a few months ago....  Apparently the virus stays in the body and does bad things!  So I was given some lovely scary cortisone lotions (with some lovely side effects) and have to dab it only on the spots 2 times a day....  This takes about 20 minutes!  While I was there, I also found that my blood pressure was high enough (and has been for a long time) and was given bp medicine.  This really sucks.  So now I have to also avoid salt and caffeine.  My coffee intake is a third of what it was now, not too hard.  So, for the past month I just haven't been too chipper.  Just lots of chores, watching tv, and reading.  And working.

Some fun stuff that I have done lately:

We went to see Bjork at the Hollywood bowl!!  It was So much fun!  We brought a picnic and drank wine out front on a picnic blanket (there are lots of picnic areas) and it was an amazing show! We also did the usual Hollywood blvd trek, this time went into the old Roosevelt hotel for cocktails and relief from the heat.  It was beautiful and peaceful. Old old place.

We went up to Oceanside for Father's Day and had monstrously huge breakfasts and walked out on the pier.  We showed the boys the exact place where we first met when I was 17 and hubby was 23.   It was a nice day.

The boys are out of school now....  So I get to sleep in an extra hour!!!  But they have been staying up until 2 or 3am every night and waking up past noon....  For some reason that makes me uneasy.....

I have made some good food....  I like to do themes.  Recently I made mojitos and Cuban sandwiches....   Smoked pork, ham, pickles and Swiss cheese, panini style.  Mmmmmmm.....

Then I did Spanish tapas.  Shrimp in garlic sauce, tortilla de papas, mushrooms in garlic oil, mixed olives and a pitcher of sangria!  I know I made something else, I just can't remember what!

Boston terrier news:
While the whole family knows that the boys have been scuffling when put out together (getting territorial) and they should NOT be put out together, SOMEBODY messed up the other day and let them out.  I got home and there was Jinx, jumping up to get in ( they can jump high!). And he was covered with slobber and dirt and weeds and had red marks on his neck and was limping.  Damn!!!  So I threw him in The tub and washed and inspected him.  He was basically ok, but he is so much smaller that Hercules that I was concerned.  Then, I saw Hercules outside and could see a huge cut on his wrist!  Shit!  It was quite a gash, so I got him all cleaned up and got out the medical kit (I use it for the dogs way more that humans!).  I got him all sterile and antibiotic ointment covered, then wrapped it all up in an ace bandage to keep his wrist from flexing so it could close up and heal.  As of today, it is starting to heal, but not very fast.  A few more days, if it isn't closing more, I will bring him in for stitches.  I wish I had the tools, I would do it myself!
Ya know, I always wanted to be a vet when I was a kid.....  I guess it's coming true!  Sort of....

There is a big note on the back door saying DO NOT LET BOYS OUT TOGETHER!  I wonder if SOMEBODY will read it.

Books.....   Not much in this department.  Reading a lot, but nothing spectacular.  I was reading one by Judith Michael, who has written some good ones in the past, but I just lost interest in this yesterday and closed it halfway through.  I don't do that often.  I may start The Book of Ruth.  Or a John Grisham book.....  We shall see.
By the way, the book by Judith Michael was called The Real Mother.  I was looking it up on shelfari and a book called The Real Mother Goose came up in the search.  It offed the first chapter free and said it was a "sexy" book.....  I checked out the freebie and holy freaking cow!!!!  It makes 50 shades seem like a kids book!  Beware....  It's super graphic.  I didn't think amazon sold real pornography!

So, now onto another hot day.  I will try to post more often
By the way, here is my dream car!!  Brand new challenger!!

Randomness.....

Blogging from the iPad, so no fancy stuff!

I went to a thrift shop recently and found the most beautiful shirt....  A kind of tunic, in the Indian style (not Native American). And it is extremely flattering for my body type!   I got more than a few compliments in one day of wearing this!   I loved it so much that I went online and looked at amazon and eBay and a bunch of other stores.   Then I found that there is a little part of our Mira Mesa neighborhood that is very Indian!!  I knew of one store, but never looked any further... I wish I had!   I found Bombay fashions....  Oh my, the most beautiful clothing ever!  Not that I would have any place to wear a sari or a full "I dream of Jeanie" outfit, but the shirts were incredible!  Hard to find a fit, as the sizes were all European.  But I found a gorgeous one, all slightly silky and shimmery and lovely wide sleeves.  It set me back $28 (the thrift shop one was $4) but well worth it!  I got so many compliments!  Well, my youngest said he was worried that I was wearing too many Indian clothes...???     Maybe he is worried I will wear full Indian regalia and walk him to class?  I dunno!  However, I am tempted to buy one every few months just to have... I adore them!    Also, I went into the Indian grocery next door and had sooooo much fun browsing through the sauces and incense and goodies!  And you know what?? I found a cream that said it helps with a bazillions of skin problems, and also a soap that said the same...  And the ingredients (I looked them all up) were extremely beneficial in curing skin problems and so I got a soap and a lotion.  Even the base of the soap is great, being coconut oil.  (Not lanolin or glycerin, which messes with the skin) and lo and behold, my red hives or whatever the hell they are were a bit paler in the morning after using them! I'm gonna go get some more this weekend.....I used up half the lotion on my legs and arms this morning!  So I feel good about that.... However today I was all busy scratching at the hives behind my ear....  And I noticed a little lump right where my lymph glands are.  Now, I am use to knowing what swollen glands feel like. Mine swell up when I get sick like with a bad cold sometimes....  My kids have had theirs swell a bit when they are sick.....  but this feels a little like an M&M size....  Hard and little.  I actually almost swooned, because I am usually so fucking healthy that I never have anything scary going on....  I am worried that because I had a scare, and got hives, and am anxious lately that maybe I I am attracting bad health to myself.  I am not joking....  I know that good attracts good and bad attracts bad.  If something bad happens and I wallow in it, will it bring more bad health???  Man. I need to try to pull myself out of this!

Well, hell!   How about some photos? This is some stuff from my life in the last week!
This is why I do not give the dogs toys with fluffy guts anymore! (Note:the sad dog outside that started it all..  Bad Hercules!)
Chicken tiki masala!!!  Mmmmmm.  So yummy!

Stocks!!!  They smell like cloves!  Trader joes has em cheap! I adore them.... Smell them every time I walk through the dining room.

My little little boys when they were 2 and 7!  This is a photo of the photo on the fridge.

This is a little creation thanks to my hubby...  Chocolate raspberry vodka with seltzer and fresh raspberries! I am not one for sweet drinks, but this is definitely an exception!

Yeah, you want me to get off a the couch?? I don't think so!

Yes, I am pretending to be a frog! Like my frog legs?

Adios!  Have a good weekend everyone!
